Why turn M4A into MP3?

Many phones save voice recordings and WhatsApp audio as M4A (also called AAC). It sounds good and the files are small, but some older phones, car stereos, websites and editing apps only accept MP3. Converting to MP3 makes the same recording play everywhere.

How the conversion works

Echoly opens the M4A file in your browser, decodes the sound and saves it again as MP3. Your recording is never uploaded, so even private calls or family voice notes stay on your phone or computer.

Which quality to choose

For speech, 128 kbps is enough and keeps the file small. For songs, choose 192 kbps; 320 kbps is the highest MP3 quality. The export window shows the expected file size before you save, so you can pick what suits WhatsApp, email or a pen drive.

Fix it while converting

Because the file opens in a full editor, you can trim the silent start, remove fan noise or make it louder before saving the MP3, instead of using three different websites.

Questions about the M4A to MP3 converter

Is M4A the same as AAC?

M4A is the file container and AAC is usually the sound format inside it. Echoly opens both and saves them as MP3.

Will the sound quality drop?

Converting between two compressed formats always loses a tiny bit, but at 192 kbps or more most people cannot hear any difference.

Can I convert several M4A files at once?

Open them together with the MP3 joiner if you want one file, or convert them one by one to keep them separate.

Does it work on iPhone and Android?

Yes. Open echoly.in in your phone browser, choose the M4A from your files and press Export.
